American Military Targeted a 'Major Facility' in Venezuela, President Trump Claimed Without Offering Details.

Former President Donald Trump has stated that American military assets targeted a "major installation" in Venezuela in recent days. However, the ex-leader offered no details on the precise purpose or site of the strike, and there has been no further comment from his administration.

Unspecific Remarks Made During a Radio Show

"US forces just destroyed – I don't know if you saw – they have a big plant, where the vessels originate. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we hit them with significant force," Trump allegedly told Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Implications of a Verified Attack

Should a US military action is verified, it would constitute the initial land strike since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of American strike forces in the region to interdict drug traffickers that the Trump administration asserts operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This stated purpose of the military buildup has transformed into a quarantine aimed at hindering the nation's oil exports.

Social Media Video and Official Claims

Trump has for some time indicated that American military units are ready to escalate the operations by attacking objectives within Venezuela, a tactic that would theoretically require legislative authorization.

Video footage circulated online on 24 December seemed to depict an detonation reportedly from an industrial area in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An source allegedly told a news network that the president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Current Military Posture

The Caracas administration has not commented on the event Trump described. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela regarding it.

The presence of US military in the region – a stance some have referred to as a naval quarantine – marks the largest naval operation of his time in office.

Administration officials have refrained from describing the operation as a full blockade, but have stated that approximately 15,000 service members are positioned across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement existing sanctions.
