The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
