Tetris Wouldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category Could Fix That

As any prominent honors show nears, there’s always an outcry for the addition fresh award types to honor unsung work and satisfy the hearts of followers with niche passions.

A fellow writer previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. The same goes for tabletop games, this being a passionate advocate's mission. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize since similar to blinkered fanatics, there's a strong justification backing this proposal stands as crucial and important of all. The demand is this: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and it will always generate discussions resulting in unclear classifications. There’s a reason cinema institutions don’t do it. However, it represents a necessary evil within the realm of gaming, that demonstrate such variety it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of achievement in video games to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to have a chance for representation, genre categories are essential.

Present Award Structure

The major gaming awards presently include award types recognizing Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these six categories actually cover many game types, allowing placement for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Examine these examples from this year’s best games, all very different: the architectural riddles of one title, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges from additional release. Which classification works among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens outstanding logic titles released every year that have no home at major award shows, if they accidentally match classification types such as Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title got overlooked completely that year
  • Another imaginative release missed out that year
  • Popular arranging title got ignored recently
  • Limited numbers of logic titles managed to sneak into niche award types

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often compact experiences, yet the craft behind logic titles is of massive significance. Well-known matching games stand as the most-played games globally continuing this trend for over a decade.

The famous puzzle experience competes with well-known building titles claiming status as highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and engaging with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Puzzle games wouldn’t have such difficulty. It would be easy to populate five nominees engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, because you’d have to leave so many good games out.

Restating the point, these include experiences without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Logic title developers function at the challenging frontier game development, producing among the purest expressions of gaming itself. Comparable to movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting decades.
