Bailey expressed that the captain is progressing and remained hopeful about the likelihood of being involved.
"We know that the clock is ticking and multiple considerations at play, aside from the physical problem, but further aspects," the selector added.
"The outlook is good. There's strong faith that he'll participate in a key capacity. Ideally from the opening match. Otherwise, we'll adjust."
Past Concerns

Previous incidents include of spinal problems, with setbacks in several earlier campaigns leading to absences from several home seasons in a short span.
Cummins stated he would be ""aggressive" and "take risks" in his comeback strategy to secure his spot for the contest.
Bailey noted that he did not know if he had started his bowling workouts as part of his comeback but acknowledged it was "pressing" for him to be fit for the first Test.
Alternative Arrangements
In case of absence, ex-skipper Smith will take over the captaincy.
The talented all-rounder was excluded lately from Australia's squad for their limited-overs matches against India as a preventive step because of an abdominal issue.
Bailey described it as a "small issue and confirmed that Green will play in the Sheffield Shield, so will be "ideally positioned to be ready to bowl."
"Extensive planning has gone into creating the schedule for him to take part for the opening match as an all-rounder," the selector detailed.
"His involvement was limited to the starting games regardless. His aggressive style the willow in shorter formats, if it causes any delay for another day, we just made the decision to approach this more conservatively."
